Vintage 2004
– a vintage with a very prolonged ripening
period and generally cool weather.
The early ripening grape varieties St. Laurent and Zweigelt convince
with deep, dark color, intense flavor, and very elegant finish. Thanks
to the beautiful Indian summer, it was also possible to achieve high
quality with Blaufränkisch despite difficulties due to persistent
fog at harvest.
The relatively great temperature swings between day and night as well
as slow, even ripening proved advantageous for aroma development. The
high quality achieved was the direct result of an uncompromising strategy
in the vineyard.
All in all, one can speak of a classic Austrian vintage with exceptional
fruit and very intense, ripe, finely structured tannin.
